While in high school, he joined the NBC affiliate WIS-TV and worked as an “Our Generation Reporter” from 1995 to 1997. In July 2008, Melvin left WIS-TV to join NBC’s owned-and-operated station, WRC-TV, in Washington, D.C. In 2012, he anchored MSNBC’s coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
